Sean Kepple

This is Mr. Kepple's second year teaching at Sumner Academy.

Previously, he taught physics for 10 years at Fremont High School, an urban school in South Los Angeles. During his time teaching there, student scores on the CA state physics test increased by 20%, with a decrease in the number of students scoring below basic of 52 percentage points. He established an AP physics program which saw the first students in school history pass the AP Physics C exam. In 2015 he was named a "hero in education" by the school board for the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Mr. Kepple graduated from Santa Clara University in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in physics and a minor in mathematics. After discovering a passion for teaching, he earned his masters degree in education from the University of California Los Angeles in 2007.

While he does greatly miss his home state of California, Mr. Kepple is excited to be here in Kansas! He is honored to be teaching at Sumner Academy and looks forward to passing on his love of science to future generations.
