Andrea Behrman

Hello! My name is Andrea Behrman. I teach Mathematics at Sumner Academy. I have been teaching here for over 15 years. I also coach 8th grade volleyball and do extra duty at many sporting events, so you will definitely see me at many events. I have been a teacher now for over 20 years!

I am a product of the Kansas City Kansas public schools, and am proud to be able to come back and give back to my community. I went to John F Kennedy Elementary, Eisenhower Middle School and Washington High School. I received my undergraduate degree in Physical Education and Health with a coaching emphasis from Pittsburg State University...GO GORILLAS!!!!! While at Pittsburg, I was on both the Volleyball and Track and Field teams. I also have my graduate degree in Educational Administration from Emporia State University...the hardest check I ever had to write since Pittsburg and Emporia are in the same conference!

I started my teaching career as a substitute teacher for KCKPS and the Piper School District. At Piper, I was also the Varsity Volleyball coach for 2 years and Throwing coach for 2 years. I left the area for a couple years and taught Physical Education in Archie, Missouri. At Archie, I was also the Varsity Volleyball coach, JV Basketball coach and Varsity track coach. Throughout my years in the KCKPS schools, I have taught a variety of courses such as: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Intro to College Algebra, 8th Grade Math, 6th grade Social Studies, 6th-8th Science, Physical Education and Career Pathways. I have also coached: Volleyball, Basketball and Track at not only Sumner Academy but also at Northwest Middle School, Wyandotte High School and Schlagle High School.

Outside of school, I enjoy reading and spending time with my friends and family. I also am the President of Heartland Helpers a nonprofit that currently runs fundraisers and supports community efforts for the betterment of our city.
